Projects, sharing and AI tools

Beginner 5 min

How Printshop saves your work, opens project files and share links, which details stay private, and how AI agents use the same engine.

Autosave and recent projects

Printshop saves your project in this browser a moment after every change; the status next to the Download PDF button says "Saved in this browser". File → Recent projects… lists your projects with the date of the last change. Press Open to continue one, or Delete to remove it from this browser.

Undo and Redo (the arrows in the toolbar, Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z) go back through your changes.

Project files

File → Save project file (Ctrl+S) writes a .printshop.json file. It contains all settings and the images of posters and booklets, so you can move a project to another computer and open it with File → Open project file… (Ctrl+O). If you use Google Drive with usefulweb, you can save and open projects there too; Wi-Fi passwords are left out of Drive copies.

File → Share link… makes a link that contains the settings. Nothing is uploaded: the project is inside the link itself. For privacy the link leaves out:

  • the Wi-Fi password,
  • the contact details of a contact-card QR code,
  • the e-mail address or phone number,
  • the CSV rows of a label sheet,
  • the images of posters and booklets.

The dialog lists what was left out for the current project. Very long links (for example a calendar with many holidays) still work, but some chat apps cut them; send the project file instead.

Exports

The Export menu offers:

  • Download PDF (all pages) (Ctrl+E) — vector pages with embedded fonts, at true size;
  • Print the PDF… — opens the PDF in a new tab for your browser's print dialog;
  • Download this page as SVG — for editing in a design program;
  • Download this page as PNG (150 dpi) and (300 dpi).

Print at 100 % ("actual size") and check the test square or scale bar.

Keyboard

Press ? for all shortcuts. 1 to 8 switch the printable, [ and ] flip pages, +, - and 0 zoom the preview. Single-key shortcuts never fire while you type in a field, and you can switch them off in the shortcuts dialog.

AI agents and the JSON API

Seven Printshop tools — QR code, barcode, calendar, label sheet, graph paper, poster tiler and booklet — are available on usefulweb.site with a JSON API and MCP. They use the same engine and PDF writer as the app, so an agent gets the same pages the app makes from the same settings. Each tool result contains a link that opens the printable here for editing; that link follows the same privacy rules as share links.
